Helping the poor

In cooperation with CYDF (China Youth Development Foundation), a Chinese aid organization, China Mercy is seeking to help alleviate this need among the poor in the country side of China. As these clinics are built, they answer the great need for healthcare among the impoverished in the rural villages.

China Mercy is working in close cooperation with Jining Kong, the grandson of Mao Zedong. He is a driving force in the China Mercy project and has dedicated himself to aid the poor and needy in his country. Mr. Kong is the son of Li Min, Mao's daughter, and lived the first several years of his life in the Forbidden City.

Building medical clinics for the poor in rural China

Love and care

Mr. Kong & CYDF

He is one of the social architects of the next generation of youths in China, working closely with CYDF (China Youth Development Foundation) CYDF is the largest NGO aid organization in China. It currently works to establish hospital clinics in the impoverished areas. CYDF has invited China Mercy to help. This is a great open door to show God's love to the Chinese people.

China Mercy clinics are built at comparatively low cost. They make a major difference for the poor in these needy areas. Often people in the remote villages have to walk for hours, if not days, to  reach a medical facility. The roads to these villages are often in bad shape and vehicles cannot drive on them.

Effective clinics

Jesus said: "What you have done to one of the least of these, you have done unto Me." Many Chinese in rural China live in meager conditions. They are truly among "the least" on earth today. Besides the medical help, the China Mercy clinics bring the message that someone loves and cares for them.

God so loved the world! This includes the precious people in rural China. These clinics become a sign of that love and a great reminder that God - and His people - care for them.

The remote villages are often very isolated. A clinic in the village makes a huge difference. The cost to build and equip one of these clinics is $33,000, including the administration cost for the China Mercy organization. This is  great bargain considering that we can effectively help the people in their needs, and put a virtual advertisement of the love of God' in their village.

The Work of China Mercy

Despite great economic advances in China, about 450 million are still considered as rural poor. Many of these live in the countryside and the mountain villages. There is very limited healthcare in these remote areas, an average of four "hospital beds" per village. And many of the villages have no health care at all.
